Knocking on the potty training door
We bought a potty chair a while ago and Cailyn loved it, and by that I mean she loved pulling it apart and strewing the pieces around the house. Then, sorry if this is too much info, we sat her on it a couple times when she gave us the "I'm pooping" face and subsequently decided to become terrified of using the potty chair.
Potty chair seats obviously make gorgeous hats! |
I didn't want to push it because I was afraid she would totally refuse to train, and now, she's showing some interest in it again.
I'll be saving this for use in about 16 years- how great is it with the crazy hair, too?! |
She still has yet to actually potty in it or the toilet (it has a removable seat to set on the big potty), but I'm wondering when other people's babes started potty training and how you started them out. How do you know they're ready? Do you just set them on it every hour or two? Do you look for a tell? We're not pushing it, I'm just curious how to get her off and running- or rather, sitting and peeing!
We started like you just getting a potty and letting Jack play with it, sit on it when he felt like it, ect. I tried to potty train Jack right after his 2nd Birthday. He had four accidents in like 2 hours on the first day so I decided to just hold off. However, a month later he seemed to be more "with it" so I decided to try again. The second time around, I got him naked and didn't leave the house for about four days. I just watched him closely and took him potty whenever I saw him looking like he might need to go. It took only a few times until he got it. And peed on the floor like twice. It took a couple of days to work putting underwear and pants on but really the whole being naked thing worked for us. I'm not sure if it will work the same for girls but you might give it a try :) I'm definitely not the potty expert...I'll be honest, it was one of my least favorite "mommy jobs." Good luck!!
